Pulled a list of seed stage B2B companies from Crunchbase, called 50 decision makers. Hit rate was trash until I opened with “I saw you just raised, most B2B teams at your stage run into “X” is that in your radar? Got 8 meetings, converted 3. Apollo for numbers, just ask for 10 minutes at the end.

ICP: get specific enough that the opener writes itself. Not "B2B SaaS" but "Series A SaaS that posted a sales hire in the last 30 days". That job post is the buying signal, they're scaling and feeling the pain today.

Signals that actually convert: fresh funding, new VP hire, a job posting for the role your product supports. I called only companies hiring SDRs and opened with "saw you're building out sales". Way warmer that a blind dial.

Don't close the deal on a cold call, close the meeting. Only goal is 10 minutes booked. Lower the ask and yes comes easier: Worth 10 min to see how we can add value? Always frame it as low risk for them.
